Last year Google Now android released a feature to their commute planner that allows the user to turn on an alarm to wake them up when their stop at their commute is closing in.
Here is an article with a picture that shows the alarm clock button in the right side of the screen shot: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/07/google-now-has-an-alarm-that-can-wake-you-up-to-keep-you-from-missing-your-stop-on-public-transportation/
Intended to use by people who easily fall asleep, if it is on the way to work in early morning or getting home late after a drunken night out not wanting to miss your stop.
It was hard to find any user reviews about the alarm, but some questions about the feature are discussed in the first article, or pop up in my mind when reading about the feature. For example the alarm is based on your final destination (home or work), which means it estimates the stop you would get off at. If there are changes for you to make it would probably estimate the stop to change, taking the fastet route home. So hopefully the user is also using the commute planner aswell because if they don’t they might have another stop in mind than the alarm will go off for, which might cause confusion.
Another problem might be if it works when there is bad internet connection, which is talked about in the digital trends article. If you are going to work it would not be good to rely on an alarm that might not go off because the gps cannot track how far you have travelled because of a bad internet connection.
The feature and all articles I found are from last summer. Perhaps was there some problem with the feature which resulted in it not being used very much so I couldn’t find any user reviews. Either that or something better replaced it on the market.
